FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much would a security system cost?

Security systems start from $1,200 for homeowners. It’s at least that much for business owners, depending on the number of offices, doors, and more. We’ll also consider the number of users, whether you need access control, patrols, and more.

We’ll help you design a reliable, good quality system that balances your security needs with your budget. Importantly, we’re here for you anytime after installation.

What is the best home security system?

We’ll help you by listening to your needs and through an on-site visit. From there we’ll explain the best options and give you information to help you make an informed choice.

We typically use Tecom Challenger, Bosch, and Videofied brands as they offer plenty of useful functions, are great value for money, and you can monitor your home or business (or both!) easily from an app on your phone.

Importantly, we also have a strong, established relationship with our suppliers, which means we can help you with quick servicing, updates, or parts you might need down the track.

HOME SECURITY SYSTEM MONITORING OPTIONS

1. Local alarm
This is not our preferred solution as no one is alerted to a break in: sirens and strobe light operate locally only.

2. Self monitoring
The Solution 6000 alarm system provides system status, history, control and full push reporting.

This is a fully IP-based system, so it is modern and will grow with your needs.

3. Dialler
This back-to-base dialler monitoring style is typically (not in all cases) on its way out as the NBN is rolled out.

Self-monitoring and direct wireless options are taking over due to their improved security and control options.

4. Direct wireless
Suited to new installs but the go to for older dialler based systems that require back to base monitoring and backup with patrols. This dual sim 4G solution:

– Is very secure
– Polls every 90 seconds
– Has fixed costs
– unlike the old dialler system that was based on phone call billing

5. Alarm verification
For workplaces such as construction sites, the Videofied solution works very well.

For example, if a plastic bag triggers the alarm, the control room gets a low resolution 10 second video and can make a note and ignore it.

If genuine, police and patrols are sent. This saves a lot on the outdoor patrol costs of the standard blind alarm.

SECURITY SYSTEM BRANDS WE USE

There are a few brands we prefer to use due to their excellent functionality and ability to grow as you do. These are selected depending on your site and what you need:

Tecom Challenger
This is an excellent choice for large sites such as factories and warehouses as it’s scalable – and includes access control.

The new version 10 range can also be app controlled or managed by powerful management software.

The system can be customised and scaled to meet your needs by adding modules such as intelligent door controllers, LAN devices, remote arming stations, and input and output expanders.

These are all easy to manage on your phone or computer.

Bosch solution series of alarm panels
We provide the full range of Bosch security systems. The Solution 6000 is our current go-to panel for many homeowners and businesses.

It is:

  • Cost-effective with a great range of features that can be tailored to homes and businesses of any size
  • Flexible to grow as your needs grow
  • Super simple to use

It connects to a network so you can:

  • Arm and disarm remotely, quickly and easily using your phone
  • Monitor your home or your business anywhere, anytime
  • Get push notifications, voice, SMS or email through the Myalarm app
  • Give control to up to 10 users

On a business site where the alarm is monitored traditionally back to base, it can also be set up to send a push notification at the same time.

Best of all, it’s fast – two times faster than dialler monitoring used in old analogue systems.

With NBN coming in this solves the compatibility issue that older analogue systems are having.

Videofied
The Videofied security system uses an alarm motion detector with a low-resolution camera, known as alarm verification.

It allows an early warning of people approaching when armed – with a 10-second low resolution video clip back to base in the case of an alarm.

The control room can verify if it is a false alarm or a genuine alarm and action it accordingly.

This system suits building sites such as outdoor storage lots, critical infrastructure, remote sites and large warehouses.

It saves a lot of money in patrol attendances caused by plastic blowing around on outdoor sites.

This alarm is not a camera system but an alarm verification system.

How it works in 7-steps

1. Intruder breaks in
2. Alarm triggered
3. Camera activated
4. 10 sec. clip recorded
5. Video sent to security
6. Alarm verified as intruder or environment (Police / after hours alerted if genuine)
7. Intruder is arrested – if still on site

The Videofied system can be set up to be completely portable for new locations where your security needs may change, for instance, construction sites, vacant homes, and storage lots.
